Dr. Helena Yuen
Dr. Helena S. Y. Yuen, JP, is a solicitor, an accredited general and family mediator, and a mediation trainer with more than four decades of professional experience in law, conflict resolution, and family healing. She holds an LL.B. from the London School of Economics and a PhD from the University of Hong Kong, where her research focused on the mediation process. She also earned a Master's degree in Transpersonal Psychology in the United States and received advanced training in family therapy, couple counselling, and solution‑focused brief therapy internationally.
Dr. Yuen has handled thousands of mediations across family, probate, workplace, and commercial disputes and has served as an accredited mediator, assessor, and supervisor with major professional bodies in Hong Kong. She has served as a panel mediator for the Family Court, the Legal Aid Department, the Lands Tribunal, and the Judiciary mediation schemes, contributing significantly to the development of mediation practice in the region.
A pioneer in mediation training since 1997, Dr. Yuen has developed and delivered accredited mediation programs for universities, professional institutions, government agencies, and community groups. She has served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong, teaching 'Buddhist Mediation' and has spoken at international conferences and published extensively on family mediation, cross-border family issues, and integrative conflict resolution.
Dr. Yuen is the Founder and Director of the Conflict Resolution Centre in Hong Kong, established to promote harmony by integrating legal insight, therapeutic understanding, and contemplative wisdom. Her work bridges Western mediation practice with Eastern philosophical traditions, particularly Buddhist principles of compassion, mindfulness, and non‑attachment, offering pathways to heal relationships and restore inner peace.
Appointed Justice of the Peace in recognition of her public service, Dr. Yuen has served on numerous governmental and professional committees focused on mental health, policing oversight, rehabilitation, and alternative dispute resolution. Through teaching, writing, and community engagement, she continues to advance mediation as a transformative practice for individuals, families, and society.

Josephine Ma
Ms. Josephine Ma is a solicitor, distinguished mediator, and conflict resolution specialist with over 25 years of experience. She is well-versed in law, psychology, and conflict resolution, and is renowned for her practical approach to mediation and her ability to transform complex disputes into collaborative solutions.
Ms. Ma has extensive experience in assessing general mediators and knows exactly what participants need to meet high accreditation standards and excel in real-world mediation. Since 2010, she has served as an assessor for the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and subsequently the Law Society of Hong Kong. In 2012, she contributed to the development of the General Mediator Assessment Form, Core Competencies, and Guidelines under the accreditation requirements of the Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited (HKMAAL). She has been an assessor for HKMAAL since its establishment.
Josephine has trained thousands of professionals across various industries, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to effectively manage and resolve conflicts.
